RESPONSIBLE PRODUCTION
GREEN ENERGY PROJECT

Through our co-generation electric power plant we produce renewable energy from available biomass waste (sugar cane mash, or bagasse), a by-product from the sugar manufacturing process. Our co-generation plant is located adjacent to our Tala mill in Jalisco and has an installed capacity of 25 MW, operating at 100% capacity with renewable fuel. The plant generates savings of more than 70,000 tons of carbon dioxide annually, and supports the creation of more than 450 temporary jobs in rural communities. The energy produced by the plant is mainly used for internal consumption and for our beverages business.

We are currently conducting feasibility analyses in technical and financial areas to potentially expand the co-generation plant’s current capacity. We have also begun research into developing co-generation projects in our other mills.
