Aware of the importance of promoting sustainable development in the communities in which we operate, we continued with our Health Tours Initiative through 2014.

Supported by Multifunctional Mobile Medical Units, the Health Tours provide workers and community members with basic medical assessments. During 2014 support was provided to diagnose a variety of conditions, among which cases of diabetes and hypertension were the most commonly attended.

The medical attention provided by the Health Tours is free, attending a range of needs; from basic health to internal medicine, optometry, dentistry, ENT, gynecology, pediatrics, infectious diseases and nutrition.

The Tours also provided support for people wanting to quit smoking, based on the New Life Center for Primary Care of Addictions program.

Similarly, we implemented a Visual Health Campaign, which provides care to prevent and treat eye diseases for our staff and the community in general.

Through GAM drugstores we have been able to provide patent medicines at reasonable prices to community residents near our mills.

Attentive to the needs of our staff, in 2014 we opened a new pharmacy located in the Obrera neighborhood in Tala, Jalisco. The pharmacy has been very well received by workers and community members who appreciate the substantial time and travel costs saved by having a neighborhood pharmacy. Additionally, the drugstore offers very accessible costs for consultations and treatment to the community.

Under the slogan “With my mill, I am free from addictions,” GAM helps people with addictions by gathering support from the company, their families and their friends.
