Our sugar and beverages businesses are subject to the federal and local laws and regulations on environmental protection. These are expressed in the Ley General del Equilibrio Ecológico y la Protección al Ambiente (General Law of Ecological Balance and Environmental Protection) or Ley Ambiental (Environmental Law), and the Ley General para la Prevención y Gestión Integral de los Residuos (General Law for the Prevention and Integral Management of Wastes), whose applicability and observance correspond to the Attorney General for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA, Spanish acronym).
Based on such regulations, we support and promote various environmental initiatives each year, including:
- Waste assessment program.
Recovery of milling waste for reuse as nutrient for sugar cane fields. - Internal control of residual water discharges.
In production and bottling plants. - Recovery of water discharged from manufacturing processes.
By means of reverse osmosis water filtering.
